Belle: I’ll admit that every time there is a new restaurant trending in Sydney I become obsessed with wanting to go there. So much so that every third sentence is talking about going to there to eat. Paramount Coffee Project was this week’s obsession. After seeing countless posts of their Soft Shelled Crab Po Boy, I finally made the trip into the city for a shopping session with my dear friend Jo.
Paramount Coffee Project is located within the old Paramount building which was recently renovated and the cinema restored to its former glory.
The Crab Po Boy – Soft shell crab, house slaw ranch dressing, milk bun ($18). It did not let me down as the crab was amazingly succulent. If I were to describe Ando as a burger this would be it (as he is a real soft shell crab enthusiast). Nicely buttered brioche with hints of salt that contrasted well with the soft sweet bun. The umami experience was finished off with the bitterness of raw red cabbage and the zing of the ranch dressing. However I would have preferred a little more sauce.
The Dulche de Leche Milkshake ($8) was to die for. It was more of a thick shake than a milkshake which would be my usual preference. Luckily I shared this, it would of been too many calories for me to handle.
Jo had the Sweet Waffle – Peanut butter ice cream, dulce de leche, hazelnut ($15). The peanut butter ice cream was simply divine. I could have easily eaten scoops of this stuff. We just thought that the waffle was a bit on the dry side.
After our lunch we had a browse around at the pop up stores which were also located within the ground floor space.
Unfortunately we skipped on coffee because it was a rather warm day, so I will be back to have coffee and also check out some of the other items on their menu.
