Ando: Needing to go furniture/appliance shopping, Belle suggested that we go to Crossroads Homemaker Centre in Casula. She had an ulterior motive. She wanted us to go to Memphis Wings after she saw a post from fellow food blogger. Being a sunny day, it was an enjoyable drive to the West with a bunch on pop tunes in the background.
Focused on delivering an awesome Tex Mex experience, Memphis Wings serves southern smoked BBQ that is affordable and will satisfy any stomach! The ribs, chicken, beef and pork is marinated using a dry rub then smoked in house with a mixture of hickory, mesquite, and apple wood.
There are plenty of outdoor seatings available underneath the awning or you can choose to dine inside amongst wooden panels and posters of 20th century American icons such as Elvis Presley.
A mammoth menu hung to the left of the entrance and another hung behind the counter. There were A3 sized menus collectable at the counter but most people (including us) chose to stand fixated upon the menu that greeted us.
Texas BBQ Burger – Beef patty, lettuce cheese and mayo served with smokey BBQ sauce ($8.5). There was a choice of beef patty, steak or chicken. We combined the burger with a combo which included Curly Fries, corn and a 375ml can ($14). The beef patty was well seasoned but I found the bun a tad dry. Other beverages available in store include popular Mexican bottled sodas and American brand soft drinks.
Chilly Cheesy Fries – Melted cheese topped with chilli con carne topped with bacon and sour cream ($11.5). The fries were crunchy and had an abundant amount of creamy and savoury toppings that we couldn’t get enough of!
Home Wrecker – Topped with bacon and chilli con carne with sour cream and melted cheese ($12). We also go this in a combo ($16.5). The sausage was 10 inches and was a delight to consume. Perfect to satisfy any meat cravings!
Baby Back Pork Ribs – Full rack ($29.95). Dry rubbed and slow cooked for 20 hours. Served with Curly Fries and Apple. We knew we couldn’t leave this place without trying the ribs and we weren’t disappointed. It was succulent and the meat fell right of the bone.
There are so many things we have yet to try on the menu. Baby Daddy Ribs ($42), Memphis Pulled Pork Sub ($8.5) and Smoked Buffalo Wings ($9-24) are just a few things on my list when I come back. Their full menu is available on their website and check out their Facebook page for the latest information. Bookings essential after 5pm.
