Brenda: While staying at the Shangri-La for the weekend, my friend advised me to try their chocolate high tea. I didn’t know what to expect – all I could think of was Godiva-like chocolates on a three tier stand. When it arrived, I was surprised it was a close reflection to traditional high tea except without the sandwiches.
Mr.K and I started off with a latte each ($3).
I ordered the chocolate high tea for one ($31) which is also available for two ($62). They also serve traditional ($42) and champagne ($62) high tea daily at 1pm to 5pm.
Working our way up, we started with the chocolate scones with cream and chocolate. I’m a chocoholic and I thought this was such a brilliant idea! The scones were fresh and divine.
On the middle tier, we had a chocolate roulade, chocolate eclair and a dessert I have never tried before; it included 2 rings of white chocolate, a coconut crust topped with popping bobas. The chocolate roulade was to die for, it was very dense but so very sweet and exquisite.
On the top, we had a salted caramel banana macaron with a caramel injection, a strawberry compote and a chocolate cone. I thought the caramel banana macaron was so clever and amusing with the little caramel injection – it was absolutely delicious; light and sweet.
