Belle: On this specific morning I was having a catch up with my good friend Jo for brunch. We decided on Tepeo in Redfern because we had to run a few errands near by.
Located on the corner of Redfern Street and Chalmers Street, this cafe is not hard to miss. It was a busy Saturday morning when we visited and we were lucky to get seats quickly. This Spanish restaurant is a cafe by day and tapas bar by night. The name of the store simply means “the leisurely approach to dining” and has the atmosphere and ambiance to match. The warm timbers, chalkboard walls and outdoor dining makes it very inviting.
I decided on the Catalonia, poached eggs, chorizo, mixed wild mushrooms + dijon and honey sauce ($17) because when I read the menu, this one just embodied my perfect brunch dish. It it did not disappoint. The saltiness of the chorizo was balanced out with the sweet sauce that accompanied it. And the poached egg just added a layer of creaminess.
Jo decided on Tapeo Breakfast, 2 eggs, served with cucumber and tomato salsa, zetar feta + sourdough ($16). Unfortunately I was too hungry and impressed with my dish that I didn’t try this dish.
And what isn’t brunch without some hot beverages. Soy Latte please!
I definitely will come back here to try their dinner menus and stock up on organic sourdough at their bakery next door.
