Ando: I’m not one to chase food trucks but since this one was in Parramatta, I had to be there! I’m hearing that more food trucks are stopping in Parramatta and that can only be good… for me and all the westies!
Recording a winter’s high of 22 degrees celsius, it was a beautiful day to walk along pedestrian-friendly Church Street, Parramatta. Skipping breakfast is not a regular thing for me but today I did and I was beyond starvation when I arrived at the food truck.
If you’re around Parramatta or willing to travel to this great city, Eat Art Truck will be there from Thursday 18th July 2013 to Sunday 21st July 2013 at Church Street Mall for lunch 12-3pm and dinner 5.30-9.30pm. Check out their Facebook page for information and updates.
After making my way through the crowd to say hello to the guy behind the counter, I placed my order and started to join the wait. With only a few items on the menu to pick from, this greatly assisted my indecisiveness. The long lines also gave me time to think through what I wanted to get. I often have a desire to get as much as I can!
Vern’s Challenge Burger ($12) – Wagyu beef with onion, lettuce and ranch dressing. The bun was sweet and I was pleased that the wagyu beef was cooked medium rare. There was something missing and after a few bites, I realised there was no cheese. Boo. The ranch dressing was scattered randomly throughout the burger leaving me at times feeling empty. Overall quite satisfying.
Lucy’s Macadamia Crusted Chicken ($12) – with garlic and parsley aioli. This came with three large crunchy pieces and a dollop of aioli. I wished they gave more of this sauce!
I coupled the burger with a meal deal that included the burger with fries and a drink ($19). I found the serving size quite generous and enjoyed going through all the chips. After going through countless tissues in attempt to eat the burger and the chicken, I wanted to use a fork to pick up the chips. Unfortunately, the extremely crispy nature of the chips didn’t give way and I ended up using my fingers again. Fingerlicious!
I’ll try and make it my mission to try more food trucks if they roll into Parramatta. Wish me luck!
